The incident has now been identified by the BC Wildfire Service as Wildfire N11568, located approximately 1.6 km northeast of Marysville at 0.01 hectares. The wildfire is listed as under control, meaning it’s meaning it’s not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter.

ʔaq̓am Administration is aware of a lightning strike on the hill above the golf course that has caused smoke to become visible in the area.
We have reported the incident to BC Wildfire Service, and they are currently assessing the situation. We will share additional information with community as it becomes available, including if any alerts or further action are required.
If you see any additional smoke, fire, or other signs of wildfire activity, please call 9-1-1 and please report it immediately to the *BC Wildfire Service at 1-800-663-5555 or 5555 from a cell phone.
